About Dose Up

Dose Up is a UK exam preparation platform for trainee pharmacists. We build practice and teaching material for the Oriel recruitment assessment — the situational judgement and numeracy papers — with preparation for the GPhC Registration Assessment in development.

Everything a candidate practises on is written and reviewed with qualified, practising pharmacists, so the judgement being tested is the judgement the profession actually expects.

The team

I built Dose Up because it’s the resource I wish I’d had.

When I sat the Oriel exam, I underperformed, not through lack of ability, but through lack of awareness and the right preparation materials. That gap between what I could have done and what I actually did stuck with me. Later, when I sat the GPhC registration assessment, I scored over 90%, and the difference wasn’t intelligence, it was preparation.

We set out to make sure the next generation of pharmacists never has to bridge that gap alone. The goal is an affordable platform that covers everything a future pharmacist needs, from when they sit the pharmacy Oriel exam to getting signed off by their supervisor.

What keeps me in this profession is the same thing that drew me to it: the moments when you actually change the trajectory of someone’s life. There’s nothing quite like a patient’s face lighting up when they see you again. Building pharmacist-patient relationships founded on trust and confidence is what makes this work matter. Dose Up is my way of helping more people become that kind of pharmacist for their patients.

Dose Up started because I was frustrated by how expensive and fragmented pharmacy revision resources were. During my foundation year, I found myself using multiple platforms and creating my own resources just to have everything I needed. That’s when I had the idea to create one platform that brought everything together. With my team, that idea grew into Dose Up, built to support trainee pharmacists from Oriel through to the GPhC registration assessment.

My own journey has shaped the platform. I scored in the top 5% nationally in Oriel and secured my first-choice hospital placement, completed my foundation year in hospital and stayed on as a qualified independent prescribing pharmacist. I also achieved 93% overall in the GPhC assessment, including 39/40 in calculations and 109/120 in clinical, while building Dose Up alongside my revision. This allowed me to continually add the resources and content I felt were missing from my own learning.

I’ve always had a passion for education because I genuinely enjoy helping people. There is nothing quite like seeing someone open their Oriel results and secure their first choice, or open their GPhC results and realise they’ve passed. Dose Up is about helping more future pharmacists experience those moments, with one affordable platform to guide them through every step of their journey.
